Anastasia Potapova came from a set down to claim her first WTA-Tour level title since 2023 after downing Lucia Bronzetti at the Transylvania Open on Sunday. (More Tennis News)

Potapova, who was the top-ranked seed at the tournament in Cluj-Napoca, earned a 4-6 6-1 6-2 victory in two hours and two minutes to extend her perfect record to 5-0 against the Italian. 

Bronzetti started brightly to the contest, earning a decisive break in the ninth game before slamming back-to-back forehand winners down the line to take the early advantage.

The Italian also had a break point in the first game of the second set, but Potapova was able to hold her serve before asserting her dominance in the encounter.

Potapova went on to win the final five games to level the score, chopping her unforced errors from 25 in the opener to just 11 in the following set to take the tie to a decider. 

A love break to open the final set helped Potapova ease to victory. Despite Bronzetti saving three championship points, the Russian was able to stay composed to earn the win.

Having been away from the winner's circle for nearly two years, Potapova added another WTA title to her collection with a gutsy display in Cluj. 

Indeed, the world number 32 has now won three WTA crowns, and her second on indoor courts, with her first trophy coming on clay in Istanbul back in 2022.
