They eventually finished third, the final qualifying spot, in Group C behind South Africa and Nigeria.

The debutants finished second in Group B with one win, one defeat and one no result. An abandoned outing against Pakistan effectively set the tone. With one point in the pocket, the Americans stunned Ireland by nine wickets for their maiden win, but England gave them a reality check.
